Welcome to Gogebic Community College

President Lorenson

In this, our 76th year since the founding of Gogebic Community College, we take time to think about our past, present, and future. From the establishment of Ironwood Junior College, to today’s multi-building, state-of-the-art campus on beautiful Mt. Zion, GCC continues to positively impact people’s lives. The rich heritage and commitment to helping people prepare for a productive and rewarding future remains strong.

The campus has taken on a new life and new energy. With record enrollments in a number of our programs and the Campus Suites student housing at near capacity, the campus is bustling with activity from early morning until late evening. Students are studying in lounges around campus, working in the computer labs, playing basketball outside and in the Lindquist Center gymnasium, or “shooting” a round on the disc golf course along Mt. Zion. Our expansion of the off campus center in the Copper Country has helped to further develop educational opportunities for students in that region of the Upper Peninsula, as well. This is an exciting time at Gogebic.

During the past several years, faculty and staff have introduced new programs and services to continue to keep our programs current for today’s workforce and to meet the ever-changing needs of our student body. We recognize that we cannot be successful without working with others. We value and embrace partnerships and have initiated discussions with various organizations on new program ventures.

The future of Gogebic Community College is bright! We look forward to seeing you on campus and having you as a part of our learning community.

Sincerely,

James A. Lorenson
President
